A Carnival, Clever Bloggers, and Summer Schedules

Lee Wind is hosting the June, 2010 "Carnival of Children's Literature." He was kind enough to include one of my blog posts. Head on over there to check out some fun posts by a variety of kid lit bloggers.

If you haven't already seen these, be sure to check out the following creative posts:
  • A must see (and hear) is Creepy Query Girl's search for an agent - Mary Poppins Style. Not only can our Creepy Query friend write, but she also has an awesome voice. If she can dance too, I'm locking myself in a room.
  • Lydia Kang has a special Writer's Magic 8 Ball up at her blog. I want one of these for Christmas *wink, wink*.
Now that it's summer, I let my sons' daily swims in the pool replace their nightly showers (eewww!). Plus, we've eaten Kraft Macaroni and Cheese for lunch about 4 times this week (double eewww!). With kids running around during the day, my goals and writing schedule have changed a bit. Thankfully, I'm still managing to get a lot done.

How about you? How does summer alter your writing schedule?

  2. You mean swimming doesn't count as a shower??? Darn. Mac n'cheese is tasty, it's easy and it's cheap. Toss a few strawberries, apples or other fruit on the side, and you're good to go. ;-)

  3. Clarissa, lots of great stuff at the carnival. Enjoy!

Mary, I wish my kids would begin enjoying something besides mac n cheese, but it's a summer routine I can live with!

  4. Summer doesn't interrupt my schedule too much as my kids are old enough to fend (and feed) themselves. However, the noise level increases to the point where I can't hear myself think.

  5. Thanks Julie!

Summer is totally screwing with my writing schedule. But I'm trying to make time for it anyway, now that I'm getting used to the chaos!

  6. Oh ya, summer creates some big changes in our house. I try to find time to write AND do artwork but it's not easy when I have to stop mid sentence/mid brushstroke several times a day! But staying up late has always worked for me, until I fall asleep at the keyboard....

  7. Summer has really gotten in the way of my writing schedule. I have to write in spurts. There are tennis lessons and library activities, plus I homeschool all year around. We take breaks when Steve is off work.

Anyway, thanks so much for the shout out!

  10. Okay, isn't that what pools are for? And Mac 'n Cheese is better than nothing.

And what is a writing schedule now there are 16 hours of sunlight to be had? I can't wait for school to start.

  12. Thanks everyone for your comments about summer schedules. Looks like we all just do what we can when the kids are running and funning around. Might as well enjoy the summer with them while getting work done too.

    Suzie, thanks for the award!

  13. Thank you for the links, Julie!

Summer has made it easier for me to write, now that I'm only studying and writing, without having to attend classes. :)

  17. I love your blog! My summer writing time has always been hardly anything because we're usually traveling. But now that we are settling back in the States, hopefully in the future I'll do mornings.

And my kids LOVE Mac and cheese. Like obsess over it!

  19. Things definitely slow down around here for summer. I've had no time to work on my own stuff unfortunately, but hopefully that will change soon. :)
